Aileen Rodriguez

Aileen Rodriguez has been undergoing home-based therapy since July 2009 up to the present under CBR programme in Eastern Samar, the Philippines. The village health worker, trained by Terre des Hommes Netherlands for rehabilitation skills, undergoes and supervises the therapy. Aileen and her parents were taught of the exercises she had to do every day. Slowly, her balance improved and from clutching onto the post for support so that she can be able to stand, she can now stand with the aid of a stick.

Programmes

Terre des Hommes Netherlands’ support is utilized in three ways. First, the so called “direct assistance” to children which consumes the biggest part of our funds. Secondly funds are used for community awareness-raising, and thirdly lobby and advocacy work.  When natural calamities occur or man-made disasters arise Terre des Hommes Netherlands conducts emergency relief and rehabilitation projects.

Since 2005, the “programmatic approach” has become part of Terre des Hommes Netherlands policy. It is a shift from the more project-based approach to a more programmatic way of working.

The programmatic approach to development assistance is a methodology which facilitates working on a large scale, involving a wide range of interested parties (or stakeholders), addressing several topics and applying different strategies.
