This project aims to assist deprived children, who have suffered all forms of abuse and neglect, to become productive and responsible citizens through Dikkelle's Chidren's Home, which is a transitional home where children in need stay for a certain period of time. Dikkelle's Children's Home is a provisional home which provides a safe environment, education, vocational training, health care and emotional support to the children.

Unfortunately, incidents of child abuse and neglect are common in Makandura. Many children face abuse, very often within the family. This is a big invisible problem in Sri Lanka, which is not openly addressed in society. Due to shortcomings of the legal procedures the general public hesitates to take action when witnessing incidents of child abuse, mainly due to reluctance to waste time on slow legal proceedings. Police intervention on childcare incidents is rather low due to a lack of resources.
