Shelter for Child Victims of Violence and Abuse
Violence is a daily reality that affects millions of children worldwide. Children are exposed to some form of physical, sexual and psychological abuse in the home, at school and in the community. An African study indicates that a stunning 99% of girls in Kenya reports to have experienced some kind of physical abuse. Furthermore, 26% of the girls is reporting to have been a victim of rape.
WRAP provides shelter for abused women and children in Kenya with the objective to give holistic care to abused children and women survivors. In addition the project addresses Gender Based Violence (GBV) and child abuse through legal aid, community education, lobbying, and research. WRAP is one of the main organisations providing shelter where abused women and children can access the services required for them to recuperate and get over traumatic experiences. WRAP is also involved in prosecution of and crating awareness against GBV and violence against children.
