Socio-Economic Development
Within the socio-economic development programme, Terre des Hommes Netherlands helps children and their caregivers living in remote rural areas, orphans and children living in slums by:
- Providing opportunities for vocational training
- Improving livelihoods for children and their families
Improving livelihoods is done by giving small loans for starting up businesses as well as by agricultural inputs and acquiring skills by youngsters through vocational training. The capacity of partner organisations and beneficiaries is crucial, e.g. applying new agricultural techniques and the running of businesses. To that end, socio-economic development projects include trainings to enhance the capacity of both partners and beneficiaries in those fields.
